Universal Goju will accept into training any individual 10 Years of age or older. The dojo is not a baby-sitting service or hang out spot. While full understanding and appreciation of the art is not expected until full immersion into training is initiated, trainees are expected and required to respect the dojo, the sensei(instructor), fellow trainees, and the art. Discipline and respect are required of all. The sensei has the final word in regards to the dojo, its attendees and the dojo operation. |

Universal
Goju is not just a martial arts institution with a solid 25-year operation,
it is a surrogate family. Parental involvement is mandatory. All interested
individuals under the age of 18 must first meet with the sensei along
with their parents or guardian/caregiver. The parent or guardian/caregiver
must give consent in writing. All children between the ages of 10 and
15 must observe two full classes or one week of training sessions and
must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Parental or guardian/caregiver
involvement and interest is one of the most important factors inherent
to the continued participation and ultimately the success of the child.
Karate can become a true family affair; there are entire families (parents,
children and extended family members) who train under the instruction
of the sensei.

All trainees must purchase training equipment which include a Gi (uniform) and safety equipment for sparring equipment. The Gi is first required in order to begin training and cost approximately $30. Sparring equipment can be purchased after the initial three months of training and costs approximately $65 (head gear, foot and hand pads). Other sparring equipment is available for purchase at an additional cost. All trainees must regularly attend training sessions and must practice outside of the regular training sessions on their own. All students of school age between elementary and high school, must submit copies of all report cards from their school each marking period. |
|
All parents must actively participate in Parent Association activities. All parents must defer authority to sensei while at the dojo. |
| Unlike other martial arts training schools that charge a fee, Universal Goju provides training to all free of charge. Except for the cost of the Gi and sparring equipment, there are no costs passed on to trainees or their families. |
